O'Neal is among many southern blueberry hybrid crosses of northern & southern strains.

Recommended winter chill hours for O'Neal Blueberry to successively set fruit is a modest 400 to 600 hours. 16 - 25 winter days of temperature 45 degrees F and below.

This variety is self-pollinating, however A separate southern variety growing nearby is recommended to cross pollinate for larger yield of fruit set. Heat tolerant.

Grows at a medium pace. In optimal environment can be expected to thrive for about 30 years.

Southern highbush has silver green hue foliage during growing season transforming red hues in cold climates. Evergreen for mild winters. Red hue stems/bark are a highlight bonus.
White bell shaped flowers hang under branches in mid spring.
Blueberries are dark blue and medium/large sized. Considered best flavor under southern group. Early season producer.
Excellent for Container, Boarder, Hedges, Mass Plantings, Orchard/Edible Landscaping or general landscape/garden use.
