Winter Gold Winterberry (Ilex verticillata 'Winter Gold') is a female variety of the species which requires a male selection of the same species growing nearby in order to set fruit.

While the Southern Gentleman variety is the best male match for this selection, Male Apollo & Raritan Chief varieties are also within the pollination range.

Primary features are ornamental berries for bold winter interest. North American Native, Tolerates Road Salt, Deer resistant, and Bird Friendly Food Source. Year-round Interest.

Can be shape pruned & trained into multi-stemmed small tree form

Performs well in problem areas. A slow grower, and under ideal conditions has a life expectancy of 40 years or more.
Ilex verticillata 'Winter Gold'
A natural native deciduous female Holly.
Produces vivid orange, peach, yellow hue berries on leafless branches to brighten the landscape in the winter season.
Requires a male pollenizer for a lovely winter berry set. Southern Gentleman Holly is a good male match.
Excellent for Accent, Boarder, Hedges, Mass Plantings, Wet areas,  general landscape/garden use.
