Common Camellia (Camellia japonica) are shade loving plants. Mature plants have no problem thriving in full sun when they have their roots shaded by their natural dense canopy of leaves.

There are thousands of cultivars in cultivation with many different colors and forms of flowers.

Develops at a slow to medium pace with growths of 4 to 12 inches a year

Easily maintained at any height or spread with annual pruning. The following years flower buds are set shortly after they bloom, so ideal to prune after flowering to avoid removing following years flower buds.

Under ideal conditions can be expected to live for 40 years or more.

Single form flower colors of the common species are typically white, pink or red with yellow anthers.
Glossy dark green leaves year-round. A joy on display in all seasons.
